Ava is ready for Hawkeye football to start tomorrow!

Very few of our nearby friends in Iowa had dogs, so Ava didn’t have the opportunity to interact with other dogs on a regular basis.  Durham is a very pet-friendly city and several of our new friends have dogs.  Shortly after moving into our new place, we hosted a play date for some of Ava’s new friends.

We finally found a house!  Ava loves lying in the grass and hanging out on her doorstep perch.

When Amanda was working from home, Ava had a lot of freedom and the opportunity for mid-day walks and playtime.  Ava chose not to take advantage of this arrangement and instead chose to plant herself on the couch and nap all day long.  Around 4:00 she would get up, stretch, and finally go look for a toy.

When Ava and Amanda moved to North Carolina, Amanda no longer worked from home and Ava didn’t have the luxury of being entertained whenever she chose.  Because Ava had slept for most of the day, we didn’t foresee this being a problem.  It turned out that it was a hard adjustment for Ava and led to some destructive behavior at home.

Amanda started leaving Ava with a rubber toy while she was at work, and the situation seemed to improve.  The best remedy will be when Mike starts working from home and Ava can return to her former routine.
